Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising technology for future mobile networks, which can achieve improved connectivity and spectral efficiency. However, current adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) schemes may not be preferable for NOMA systems due to the error propagation. To address this problem, an error-compensated AMC framework for uplink NOMA systems is introduced in this paper. We first demonstrate that the conventional AMC method cannot satisfy the target block error rate (BLER) of NOMA users. Then we develop the error-compensated AMC algorithm. Numerical results verify the propositions in this work, and show that the proposed error-compensated AMC algorithm outperforms the benchmark in terms of the system sum throughput.
