In this paper we present the first demonstration of femtosecond pulse propagation in ARROW (anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide) type photonic crystal fibres (PCFs). These are solid core PCFs in which the cladding is composed of high rather than low index cylinders, which can be realized by drawing a high index fluid into the air holes of a commercially available microstructured fibre.
