This paper delves into data from eight NASA projects compiled by the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). This data is also compared to data from a previous Department of Defense (DoD) study. The resulting analysis provides quantifiable metrics that confirm the benefits of Earned Value Management (EVM) across industries, while also high-lighting differences that are likely driven by the varying levels of scope risk. Potential future applications of these findings are also explored.
