This paper presents a detailed analysis and computer simulation for a two phase inverter-induction motor system to provide a low cost drive for use in electrical propulsion of passenger vehicles utilizing current controlled PWM. The two phase system provides comparable performance and efficiency at lower cost and higher reliability than the conventional three phase drive system.
