Sand accumulation on roads and railways due to sand and dust storms can disrupt transportation, cause delays, increase maintenance costs, and create significant safety hazards. Implementing advanced detection technology can significantly enhance the reliability and safety of transport infrastructure. In this study, we monitored sand accumulation on railway lines using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. This paper aims to identify locations along the Etihad Rail corridor in the UAE affected by sand accumulation using coherence loss analysis. The Coherence Change Detection (CCD) technique represents a promising tool for analyzing and modeling sand accumulation problems on road and railway networks. It can provide early detection warnings for sections of railway lines, helping to prevent potentially devastating events.
