Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission (OC Transpo) has been developing an automatic vehicle location and control (AVLC) system for their fleet of 800 buses. The objectives of the system, the system concept, and the project's current status are described. In particular, the way in which the system is used to improve service control and provide public information are covered.
