This paper presents an open-source embedded software framework called C-ATOM. It provides tools for planning software architecture, implementing functions, and deploying distributed real-time embedded software systems. The idea of the framework is to create a set of domain-specific notations and their interpreters to have these notations as formal requirements descriptions and at the same time have these notations as functions configuration computable in real-time after initialization. Notations orchestrate conventionally programmed well-defined functions, by integrating them inside a software system. This way developers have the advantages of a model-based design approach and the efficiency of conventionally programmed functions.
