Air carriers, as well as air traffic service providers, are constantly developing new ways and systems to enable them to provide their services more safely and efficiently. One of these systems is a remote tower. The aim of this paper is technically and operationally assess the possibility of setting up a remote tower in Slovak civil airports and describe the principle of operation and basic technical equipment of the system. In addition to the description of the remote tower control system, the paper contains an analysis of a load of Slovak civil airports with an emphasis on the number of flights flown. The analysis results from the annual reports of Slovak air navigation service providers between 2015–2019. We point out the possibility of establishing this system in the airports, selected based on the made analysis regarding the loading of the airport and the staffing of workplaces.
