These days Metro Railway is one for the cheapest, ecofriendly Rapid Transit System to overcome the congestion on roadways. Among its different subsystems, axle counter is regarded as an integral part of signaling system and used to identify occupancy of track by trains and thus, its failure hampers the movement of train. This suggests that there is a need to analyze its pattern of failure and estimate its availability. The overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) based on availability, performance and quality has been calculated for 15 months each of these. It is studied that mean of OEE is about 75% and variation is 10% approximately over the period of time. Keeping these issues in mind, this paper also analyzes the Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability of axle counters failures for metro railway systems.
