The dual-active-bridge converter is of major importance for the electrification of transportation. It is used among others in electric vehicle chargers or more electric aircraft dc-microgrids. A careful design of the converter is very important in order to evaluate the soft-switching range and the temperature of the power transistors. Even though parasitic elements can have a significant influence on the operation of the dual-active-bridge converter, they are mostly ignored. Thus, in this paper a comprehensive analysis of the influence of parasitic elements on the operation, especially on the soft-switching, of the dual-active-bridge converter is presented. The findings show that the influence of some elements can be ignored, while others should be considered.
