In order to improve the interoperability of electric vehicles wireless power transfer system (EV-WPT), data interaction is required between the ground and electric vehicles sides during wireless charging. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a simultaneous wireless power and data transfer system used for EV-WPT. In this system, the power channel and the data channel are independent of each other, a rectangular coil is used to transfer electrical power, and a DD coil for data transfer is added directly above the rectangular coil. At this point the rectangular coils and the DD coils are decoupled, meaning that the crosstalk between the power channel and the data channel will be small. An addition of an extra pair of data coils allows a lot of space and flexibility in the design of the system. This system uses OFDM technology to transmit data, which further increases spectrum utilization and improves the transfer rate. The block diagram of the wireless power and data transfer system is provided, Separate analyses are conducted for the power channel and data channel in this paper. The system circuit model and coupling mechanism model are built in MATLAB/Simulink and Maxwell simulation platform to validate the proposed system. Finally, an experimental platform was built to realize the system.
