This paper introduces the concept of ITS (intelligent transportation systems). The ITS intends to realize the evolution of automobiles. The application of ITS into the automobile transportation system consists of three areas: 1) information of all components of road transportation systems; 2) connecting of all components into a networked system; 3) an introduction of advanced control and/or management into the networked system. Automobile driving in the future will be intensively managed by the ITS, and drivers may lose the ability of free driving.
