Vehicle tracking has become a mandatory feature in modern mobility. Nonetheless, the ownership and licensing rights of tracking data are mostly unclear or beyond the authority of the vehicle owners. This paper proposed a self-managed blockchain-driven vehicle tracking that considers the owner as the central actor who owns and authorizes vehicle trajectory data. We use data partitioning schema to encrypt vehicle trajectory data and store them in distributed storage. The implementation takes the form of a system service run within the Internet-on-Vehicle (IoV) system. The proposed method is secure against brute-force attacks since each data partition has its unique password. In addition, the encryption schema enables a flexible licensing authority for the owner without sharing the entire trajectory data. The proposed method is affordable requiring only 328 hex digits per transaction that result in 0.5 and 3 USD monthly fee for hourly recap using Celo and Polygon networks.
