The detection of a 15GHz optical modulation signal was demonstrated experimentally by using difference frequency generation (DFG) in a periodically-poled LiTaO3 microwave rectangular waveguide with a resonator structure. Coupling between the fabricated device and a measuring antenna was improved by utilizing a microwave lens. The detected signal power was enhanced by about 20dB compared with the power measured without the microwave lens.
