The electric water heater (EWH) load was included in the demand side response resource of the peak load reduction that was caused by electric vehicles (EVs) and thermostatic equipment, and its electric model was established based on the thermodynamic model. This paper also discussed the relationship between the heating mode and the energy consumption. As the EWH is very flexible equipment in the heating time and heating temperature, it can be used as a transfer load to balance the total load. It proposed two load transfer strategies according to the direct load control method, and discussed the method of implementation, applicable conditions, energy loss of the two strategies, and used them as the basis for decision-making to divide the priority of the two strategies. Following the decision of the transfer strategy, it studied the energy allocation method and established the optimal scheduling model, verified the feasibility of the method and the transferability of the EWH load with the actual microgrid data in the smart grid.
