In order to solve the traffic congestion problem, the characters of traffic should be investigated. Cellular Automaton (CA) models based on brake light rule (BL) can reproduce the three-phase traffic flow. However, all BL models assume that all drivers have the same driving mode. In fact, vehicles can be divided into three types: aggressive, normal and timid. The influence of driving modes on flux is analyzed based on the Tian model, which is a typical BL model. Simulation results show that when adopting different driving modes, the modified Tian model can still reproduce the three-phase traffic flow. In addition, more aggressive vehicles can increase the flux, while more timid vehicles will decrease the flux.
