This paper presents a continuum model of traffic flow on a road network with taking into account the diffusion effect. The model is described by a nonlinear convection-dominant diffusion equation, which can be solved using numerical methods. The model is applied to analyzing the traffic flow along a unidirectional highway system with or without junctions. Three numerical examples are provided to illustrate the application of the present model.
