The hemispherical resonator gyro (HRG) is a vibration gyro with high accuracy, long life and great reliability. Analyzing and studying its output signal is one of the key techniques to science evaluating performance. This paper presents the principle of the HRG, induces the Allan variance methods, and uses the MATLAB programming to simulate and calculate. It’s the first time in China to apply the Allan variance methods to separate and estimate HRG errors. And experimentally proves the Allan variance method is an effective method to evaluate the HRG performance.
