Complex systems with inter-dependencies and in-teractions are hard to understand. Negative effects on a system level due to architectural deficits can introduce system errors. For safety-critical systems this could cause even harm. Avionics plat-forms in aircraft that provide the computing and 110 capabilities for safety and non-safety critical applications are such complex systems. Visualisation during design and development is therefore key to understand those inter-dependencies and to avoid design errors. This paper presents a new method to provide visualisation techniques to gain insights into architectural aspects of avionics platforms and the respective distributed system applications running on these. The method aims to provide intuitive ways to answer typical design questions and to support V & V activities.
