The present paper is devoted to the experimental investigation of novel organic and organometallic molecules possessing a relatively strong electro-optical response. The materials being investigated have a feature called intramolecular charge transfer accompanied by the ability of creating donor-acceptor dipole under external electric dc field. Three groups of materials have been studied: 1. heterocyclic Ge-containing compounds; 2. pure organic autocomplexes with intramolecular charge transfer; 3. 2-nitro-1-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]ethene. The solutions of the materials in different solvents as well as incorporated into solid polymer matrix were investigated.
