Multiphoton spectroscopy and functional imaging using a 10-fs laser pulse with binary (0 or /spl pi/) phase shaping are demonstrated. Theoretical and experimental considerations of pseudorandom Galoise fields to control multiphoton intrapulse interference are presented.
