In this paper the symmetric differential phase shift keying (SDPSK) system performance is evaluated. SDPSK is an alternative to the commonly used DPSK signal which does not require the knowledge of the constant signal phase. The communications system models a slow frequency hopping system with an optimal partial band jammer. A frequency hopping system with jamming is a common system scenario in both military and commercial communications systems. A Butterworth filter is used as a detection filter in the receiver for hardware simplicity. Timing offset, an important receiver imperfection parameter, is considered in the detection process. Numerical bit error rate performance of SDPSK is provided for various parameter values under this jamming and timing imperfection environment.<>
