In this paper, spectro-temporal dynamics of external-cavity VCSELs (VECSELs) were studied experimentally and theoretically to investigate the single mode operation. The VECSELs were formed by a 1/2 VCSEL - composed of a HR bottom Bragg mirror and a strain quantum-well (QW) active layer, a 15 mm air gap, and a concave mirror (99.4% reflectivity).
