In order to improve the performance of WiFi system, a novel medium access control scheme is proposed and analyzed in this paper. In communication systems with IEEE 802.11, each user is serviced by only one access point (AP), which means that another APs have no chance to service this user even though its channel is available and it can increase the performance of the whole system. Based on this, a multiple AP exponential backoff algorithm (MAEB) is put forward, which multiple APs have chance to service one user simultaneous and therefore increase system efficiency. We modify exponential backoff algorithm (EB) protocol slightly in order to make it suitable in our network environments and prove MAEB is a usable protocol to increase the performance of WIFI system.
