We propose and experimentally demonstrate in-situ OTDR fault location using a conventional 850-nm VCSEL. The laser functions as both emitter and resonant-cavity photodiode receiver, enabling simplified monitoring of low-cost fiber networks. Theoretical detection limits are discussed.
