Summary form only given. There is increasing interest in arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexers for use in WDM and signal processing. The channel crosstalk of an AWG is determined by both the phase errors and power-splitting ratios of all its arrayed waveguides. This paper describes a precise measurement method. The improvement in the crosstalk achieved by compensating for the measured phase errors after fabrication.
