In this paper, by studying the natural trajectories of buck converters when the switch is on or off, the situation of transient power balance is pointed out and analyzed. On this basis, a transient power balance based control for buck converters is proposed. It can predict the current during sudden load changes. An energy control strategy is applied to optimize the dynamic performance as well. The simulation results verify the proposed control method and agree well with the theoretical analysis.
