The design and/or improvement of DC traction electrification system will be done to reduce power losses and maintain voltage drop according to criteria. This will be achieved through planning the optimal position of DC traction substations which takes into account path profiles, time tables, train set and train motor. The proposed method uses metaheuristic optimization, in which the peak demand is the goal, with a genetic algorithm where the fitness function is a DC power flow power flow model.
