The traffic jam of urban road is one of the important issues of common concern to the international community, which affects the efficiency and quality of city life. In order to solve the urban road traffic congestion problem, this paper gathers information and data about a five forks by the Work Sampling and image analysis method. Then, according to the queuing model of M/M/1, these parameters as the average arrival rate, average service rate and queue length are measured. After that, the paper analyzes the road traffic congestion reasons by the busy rate and free rate of each crossing. Based on the reasons, the countermeasures to solve traffic congestion are put forward. The results show that the improvement to the five forks can effectively reduce the queue time of crossing vehicles.
