Summary form only given. As-S-Se based chalcogenide glasses (ChG) not only exhibit fast response times, low linear and multiphoton absorption in the wavelength of use, but can easily be doped and fabricated in film form. Devices processed using thermal evaporation of multiple glass layers include Bragg grating reflectors, microlens arrays, vertical couplers and active Nd/sup +/ doped components.
