Electric Vehicles (EVs) are gaining global attention in the transportation sector, aiming to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate carbon emissions. The transition to electrified transportation poses challenges such as increasing EV penetration, unpredictable driver behaviour, battery specifications, and charging infrastructure, impacting overall energy demand patterns. Recognizing these changes is crucial for electric utilities to adapt infrastructure for effective handling of EV-related loads. This involves accurately identifying the EV load profile to assess and manage the potential negative impacts on the electric grid. However, predicting this profile is challenging due to uncertainties in factors influencing EV load. This project focuses on estimating and evaluating an EV load profile that considers key factors influencing the power consumption rate. Leveraging survey data from the United Arab Emirates, the study extracts information on driver behaviour, including home arrival time, departure time, and daily mileages. The aim is to provide insights into EVs’ impact on load profiles and variations, aiding utilities in adapting to the evolving energy landscape.
