This paper proposes an event-triggered (ET) pre-scribed performance optimization controller for cruise control of connected vehicle platoon systems. The following two con-tributions are included: 1) By introducing Prescribed Perfor-mance Control (PPC) the closed-loop performance index and performance of the system are guaranteed. 2) By combining the adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) technique with the event-triggered mechanism, the control cost and the communication consumption is optimized while ensuring the system performance. Simulation experiment results further confirm the practicality and effectiveness of the method in platoon systems.
