The main objective of this paper is to design an economic electric bike and to implement different sources for charging the battery which in turn reduces the charging time. It is proposed to overcome the limitations of current existing electric bikes in the market. It is a hybrid model with various charging features. It is possible to charge the hybrid electric motor bike (HEMO) using solar energy, generator and plug-in. During the day time, solar energy will be utilized for charging up the battery. If it is night time and the battery is fully drained, we can make use of the generator by pedaling. Here, a machine acts as a generator and motor. During pedaling period, the machine will act as a generator and while using twist throttle, the same machine will act as a motor for propulsion of an electric bike. In rest mode, direct plug-in feature can be used to charge the battery of an electric bike. The hybrid electric motor bike is also featured with speed controller using arduino programming.
