Optical coherence tomography has proven to be a useful diagnostic tool in several medical specialties. The time-domain interferometric basis of OCT has, however, limited its application effectively to point-sampling imaging. Recently, several new innovations, including frequency domain methods have significantly extended the capabilities of OCT and open the possibility of comprehensive diagnostic screening.
