Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a novel modulation scheme for modern radar systems. Using OFDM frequency domain constructed pulses, individual frequency components (sub-carriers) can be processed independently. A likelihood ratio test (LRT) can then be performed on each sub-carrier and conclusions can be drawn based on adaptive thresholds derived from constant false alarm rate (CFAR) performance. This paper focuses on improving detection by using only sub-carriers with the highest variance of responses.
