With the advancements in wireless sensor network technology, it has become possible to enhance airport surveillance and security measures. Wireless sensor networks can be deployed at airports to detect and monitor various parameters such as temperature, humidity, air quality, and movement of people and vehicles. Wireless sensor networks can be used to optimize airport operations, such as monitoring the efficiency of baggage handling systems, optimizing aircraft parking, and reducing energy consumption. Overall, using wireless sensor networks in airport surveillance can significantly enhance airport security, safety, and operational efficiency. However, it's important to continue developing and implementing robust security measures to prevent potential attacks on these networks. Using wireless sensor networks to monitor vibration on aircraft is a promising approach to enhance flight safety. By detecting the vibration intensity of various components of the airplane structure, potential issues can be identified and addressed before they become critical. Wireless sensor networks allow for efficient and continuous monitoring of the aircraft structure, which can improve maintenance and prevent costly repairs or accidents. Additionally, real-time communication of this information to the cockpit computer can provide timely alerts to pilots, allowing them to take action before a component reaches resonance. By adjusting the wake period of a sensor node based on the sensed vibration level, the medium access protocol can improve the overall efficiency of the wireless network. It's also interesting to note that the article provides context about airport cargo and discusses popular routing protocols for wireless sensor networks.
