We present here the phase noise reduction of a Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) Based optoelectronic Oscillator (OEO) operating at a frequency of 2.49GHz. Thus, 1.3 and 1.55μm VCSELs have been introduced as a laser source in the VCSEL-Based Oscillator (VBO). The results, presented here, shows a phase noise improvement according to the Relative Intensity Noise (RIN) reduction of 1.55μm VCSEL. In addition, a phase noise decrease has been observed with 1.3μm VCSEL regardless to the RIN reduction, but due to the zero-dispersion wavelength.
