The cyclic train timetabling problem is studied in order to enhance the feasibility of the periodic event scheduling problem (PESP) model. First, we use the variable trip time constraints to replace the fixed trip time constraints, and the train acceleration and deceleration times are introduced into the trip time constraints. Then we provide the arrival safety constraints and departure safety constraints to take place of the original safety constraints in the PESP model. In order to reduce the solving time, we introduce a cutting plane into the new model. The proposed model is implemented using CPLEX 12.5, and the effectiveness is further examined through a case study.
