Millimeter-wave (mmWave) signals are vulnerable to blockages; as such, we utilize an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) to provide an alternate path when the line-of-sight (LOS) path is obstructed. Owing to the sparse nature of the cascaded beamspace massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) channel, we propose a low-complexity beam selection method based on the maximal magnitude (MM) and ant colony optimization (ACO) by considering channel correlation among user terminals (UTs). Simulation results show that the proposed method can achieve near-optimal system sum rate performance with markedly reduced complexity.
