In the course of launching the ship into the water, the forces acting on the hull through the fluid is vital for the security of the launched ship. The rational calculation of the hydrostatic force on the hull in this process can evaluate the safety of ship's launch efficiently. In present study, the calculation is carried out for a 50000 DWT multipurpose cargo ship. From the basic data such as the plans of Bonjean curves, molded lines, distribution of light ship weight and launching arrangement, the hydrostatic force is calculated in the launching process with sea level and the shipway conditions concerned. Variation of draft, position for maximum draft, lift by the stern, and slippage to float are obtained. Through computation of the pressure distribution on the slider, the maximum value and the time of the stress produced at the fulcrum near the bow, the loading-bearing capacity of the slider and slipway can be verified.
