In this article, an enhanced direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) based on online optimization strategy of turn-on and turn-off angles is proposed to minimize torque ripple and improve efficiency for six-phase switched reluctance motors (SRMs). First, the online optimization of turn-on and turn-off angles is implemented based on the inductance and flux linkage characteristics, respectively. Then, the electrical cycle is divided into several sector zones according to the optimized turn-on and turn-off angles, and the corresponding conduction rules are adopted in different regions. Finally, the simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the proposed method.
