Summary from only given. Recent advances in wavelength-engineered vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL), filters and detectors have brought forth exciting new opportunities for novel, high bandwidth, high flexibility, robust and reliable optical interconnects. In this talk, I will review the enabling device technology and discuss new systems applications.
