An energy-efficient longitudinal controller is designed for connected automated trucks traveling in mixed traffic environment, consisting of connected and non-connected vehicles. A data-driven optimization method is proposed to determine the parameters of the energy-optimal controller while modeling the speed of nearby vehicles as stochastic processes. Spectral estimation is utilized for the analysis of the linearized system and the efficacy of our proposed method is evaluated statistically using synthetic data.
