Summary form only given. In summary, we have developed MQW (EAM) electroabsorption modulator modules for broadband WDM systems. By utilizing anisotropic electroabsorption, 40-nm bandwidth operation was successfully achieved, and 100-nm bandwidth operation was confirmed by the measurements of /spl alpha/ parameters and the simulations.
