The paper presents a converter derived from an integration of a Zeta converter and SEPIC converter sharing a same switch. The proposed converter produces two symmetrical and balanced output voltages, which is suitable for feeding a mid-point converter fed SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) drive. The proposed drive utilizes a single voltage sensor based voltage follower approach to regulate DC link voltage. In addition, no direct sensing of motor speed is required and it eliminates the speed sensor requirement in the SRM drive. The speed of proposed SRM drive is controlled by regulating converter output voltage over a wide range. The topology employs a discontinuous current mode (DCM) of operation to obtain input current shaping naturally without any current control loop. The SR motor of a 400 W is considered for proposed converter fed drive.
