Aircraft engines are a major contributor to the noise level these days. One way of decreasing these levels is by using different shaped nozzles. The main aim of this research is to investigate the noise levels around an aircraft nozzle by including the chevron nozzle. Another aim of the research is to determine whether the changes in noise levels are linked to the velocities produced by the nozzles. The simulation involves analyzing two nozzles, one with V-shaped chevrons and the other with no chevrons. ANSYS CFD Fluent is used as means to simulate the conditions around a nozzle. The results obtained show that the V-shaped chevrons nozzle produced the lesser noise and the greater average velocity. Keeping the noise levels intact not only benefits the engine in a way but also keeps the noise pollution levels to a minimum.
