The growth of connected cars driven by mobile technology and autonomous driving is explosive recently. As more cars are connected to the Internet; more cybersecurity threats are targeting these hyperconnected vehicles. However, vehiclescomposed of embedded devices are most likely to have limited security supports. To solve this problem, we propose a practical in-vehicle security architecture that introduces a concept of a trust anchor. Located in the vehicle network, it offloads the security needs of ECUs(Electronic Control Units) and provides related security services to them. Architecture design and discussion were presented. This work will benefit developers who want to implement high-level security features while being highly cost-effective.
