This paper deals with the implementation of predictive control in the field weakening region for SPMSM. The structure of the predictive controller is dead-beat which is not used for field weakening region for SPMSM yet. In the conventional flux weakening algorithm, an additional PI regulator or low pass filter is needed to adjust the d-axis current reference. Therefore, a sophisticated gain tuning for this regulator in the presence of two PI regulators for current loops is a critical issue. In addition, this type of controller represents a low bandwidth for high-speed drive systems. So to overcome the mentioned problems a dead beat controller is proposed for flux weakening region of this type of motors. For deliberation of this controller, its performance is compared with PI and FCS-MPC controllers. Advantages of the controller in the field weakening region compared to two other controllers is presented. Simulation result shows the superiority of the controller.
