The optical fiber switch with wavelength-selectivity is very useful in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networking such as WDM channel protection and optical network reconfiguration. We show here a new structure for a wavelength-selective switch. It is a combination of a fiber loop mirror (FLM) with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). It has low insertion loss and can switch specific wavelength light from multi-wavelength input light.
