Transverse Flux machines offer a high torque and power density in low speed which make them a promising choice for use in wind energy applications. In this paper a new concentrated flux structure with a large torque density and high-power factor is presented. The proposed TFM fully utilizes the PM, hence, resolving the major disadvantage of TFMs for use in wind turbines. High efficiency, less PM eddy current, low demagnetization, low leakage fluxes and low cogging torque are indicated by FEM results. A prototype is constructed and tested for the design procedure validation and the experimental results are presented to validate FEM results.
